Wolffish
(Anarhichas lupus)
              


   Also known as sea cat, cat fish, loup de mer, and ocean wolf; the wolffish is the largest member of the blenny family averaging about 1.2 m in length and 33 pounds in weight.  Wolffish are usually found hiding between rocks, alone or in pairs. It uses a bony plate in its upper mouth to crush its prey (usually crustacean and echinoderms).  It main diet consists of fish, crabs, enchinoderms, and invertebrates.  Females lay their eggs in the winter and the eggs are guarded by the males.
